WebIt is generally not appropriate for a neighbor to cut down a tree on your property without your permission. State law in Kansas requires that any city proves, either through laboratory tests or other evidence, that a tree is infected on private property before they can go in and remove it. You must also check the law in your state, county or city to determine if different rules may apply to you. Maryland has several state laws that protect trees and require permits to have them removed by private property owners. Ultimately you will still be liable for any damage caused by them.
